Leaders are not born but they are made by their experiences in life. To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of the functioning of the administrative body, a school council was formed by conducting elections.
Before I proceed, I would like to share these quotes, Voting is how we participate in a civil society, be it for a president, be it for a municipal election. It’s the way we teach our children in school elections. How to be good citizens and to create the impact of our voices.
We SKPVMS proudly initiated the school election in a similar fare real process as the election commission on India does. Students were asked to file their nomination for the post, which they were competing for. This was followed by an interview; we could sort out the best candidates who can build their leadership qualities. As this was the first interview, the students were well groomed few students were very nervous, confident enough, few students were very practical and logical in clearing interview.
Selected candidates were asked to come up with their election symbols and with a motto, which made them analyze the duties and responsibilities. Election symbols were gone through for the approval by the Election Officer and Principal Sir.
Campaign for the election process went for 2 days; students expressed their views clearly to the house members, without bribing any voters.
Finally, the voting process took place in the seminar hall, students from grade IX to grade II were asked to cast their votes for the best candidate to represent our school. Through this process, students clearly understood how election happens in a democratic society.
Finally, I thank Principal Sir for giving me this opportunity to be a part of this election process.
